What is the highest usable rpm a 327 with 9:1 comp., 1.94 camel humps, original torquer intake and a 500 cfm Holley 2 barrel could turn? I'm helping a buddy put together a low buck dirt car and this is his engine. He has around a 7.00 final drive on an 1/8 track and I'm trying to see at what point he will be out of motor.

Depends on cam, valvetrain, etc, what cam do you plan to run?

Marty, stock, or low budget 327 will have a "useable" RPM range up to about 5500 RPM.

Thanks for the info. He has people telling him to run a cam that will pull to 7500 and up but whats the use if the ingine can't flow the air.
