I have a 67 convertible, and have never had a boot cover that would clip in the rear corners. I've tried 3 different ones over the years, and they all fit the same. The only one I've seen clipped on right was a black one on a hot summer day. I haven't tried adjusting the "stack height" of the top yet. It doesn't seem to be the top that's keeping it from reaching the area to clip on. I talked to a fellow from PUI interiors, and he seemed to be unaware of the problem although he did offer to make one to fit if he could have an actual car to measure/fit it to.
I know someone else must have ran into this problem on a 66 or 67, so give me some ideas.

my boot fit great untill i got a new top put on. now it will not fit at all. i have decided anyway that it is a big pain in the butt. so i took it out. now to keep the top from flapping around while cruising down the highway, i did what i posted here. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum13/HTML/000647.html

Dan, maybe the top well wasn't put in correctly the last time it got a new top?

Sometimes mine is hard to get on too though. When it is I usually push down on the top and gain that little bit extra. That was with the power top cylinders unhooked. I just got the motor fixed, so I'm not sure how it is going to be affected now.

One problem I do have is my chrome strip is loose. I'm missing clips. Anyone know how hard this is to fix? I have no idea how to get the trim piece off.

The clips that hold that moulding on are available from most of the Chevelle parts suppliers now. Ground Up show them in a set of 10 for $39.95.

Chad,
True-Connections has the clips for $2.50 each. I just picked up a few myself...

The trim should have one tiny screw at the front end of each piece (right by the side windows... then just the clips... Don't know if there is a proper method, but mine came right off with the clips, just needed to push the chrome to the inside and front of the car...

BUT, looking at the clips, maybe you can pull the chrome to the outside and lift it off the clips...

I have never had problems with the boot, BUT, I didn't even have a top frame... I just put that on, but haven't tried to refit the boot.
