Not a big fan but when I do it is with my hands. While I was taking a break on my way home today there was an older gentleman sitting in front of me eating his hot dog with a knife and fork. Now keep in mind I have lived a sheltered life, and I have never seen this before. I almost laughed out loud because all I could think of was the Seinfeld episode when Mr.Wick ate his Snickers bar with a knife and fork and started a new trend. That's all.:)

As I was reading this post, Seinfeld was the first thing that popped in my mind. Too funny.

I eat chilli dogs with a knife and fork. Regular ol Chicago dogs are finger food. At a Cubs game, I like to have a dog in my right hand while clutching a large Old Style in the left, and squeezing gently a bag of chips between my knees.

Typically with standard length hot dogs in a bun, with hands. No bun, fork. Just had a foot long half pounder in a bun that was more like French bread. With chili, cheese and onion. Used a knife and fork on that one, couldn't finish it.

For a true dog, I like a bun. For a Polish or brat, I often like no bun.

It cannot be an all out chili dog if you can eat it with your hands..........unless all of your clothes are a bib. Not worth eating if it is not dripping from every direction. Much like a sale barn hamburger.

Unless I have cooked it on a stick over an open fire, I try not to eat those things.:noway:

You do know what they put in those things.:)

All the good stuff?

I'll take mine with mustard, meat sauce, diced onions(raw), and celery salt.

Around here, they cut them short so make sure you order "three all the way" :D

Of course, back in my high school days, it was six or eight all the way.

Wow, the innuendos in this thread are aplenty. Read through this thread with that in mind for a really good chuckle.

You don't eat hot dogs with a fork and knife. That is like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end. The same thing as thinking it is okay to talk with your mouth full as long as you have your hand in front of your face.

Eat a hot dog with your hands and make a mess, OR DON'T EAT IT!!

Yes. Wonderful seasoned dead animal. Its not *******s and lips...you can let your 5th grade children continue to believe that if you wish. Dogs, like all meat, can be had crap and cheap or good and tasty. Just like packaged ground beef for burgers - I dont do it. I have meat ground, good meat, and make the burgers.

I love me some good hot dogs - GOOD hot dogs and sausages are a staple of mine. I do not use forks or silverware with hot dogs but I also prefer mine pretty basic and dont do chili on my hot dogs or burgers. Might deep fry one wrapped in bacon and throw that dude on a big bun.....ahhhh....heaven. My dogs, burgers and chili stand alone or if I do plop chili on something its either fries or the beloved late night frito chili boat.

Im hungry now...

"dry" hot dogs with only ketchup and mustard are considered a quicky snack and are finger food. A meal hot dog, with multiple weenies, on a poorboy bun, with real cheese (not the sauce crap in a can) chilli, spicy mustard, onions, jalepenos and sourkraut, is fork and knife food. If it's made right, theres no way you aren't wearing some of it.

Hiway Star, not sure how or why you're picking up turds, but hopefully it's not before you eat that hotdog!

What's in it? Who cares, pig lips have got to be better than canned oysters, stinky a$$ sardines, or vienna sausages. What is that stuff in those vienna sausage cans anyhow? Cosmoline?
