This is on a 66 with original arms. I want to remove the cowl and don’t want to just start prying. Any online videos? Thanks

It's pretty simple. Put down some tape around the wiper arm shaft. If you look at the bottom of the arm you will see a little stainless tab that sits in the grove just below the splines. With a small screwdriver carefully pry the tab off the shaft and pull up and off.

Look at the base of the arm. Not sure on a '66, but the '69s have a little clip you pry back (gotta hold it back while you remove the arm). After that, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle until it pops off the stud.

Don't forget to mark it before you pull it off, makes it much easier to reinstall to the correct position!

It sounds easy but it's fairly difficult sometimes.

If I remember correctly after releasing the clip it seems to come off the shaft easier if you pull harder on the side opposite the clip.

Thanks everyone, I have them off. Now another problem, it feels like there are some kind of clips or tabs holding the cowl cover in place. It is all loose; but it doesn’t want to pull straight out or up.I don’t want to pry too hard and chip or break something.

If I remember correctly Jim, lift the front edge up and pull to the front of car. There are tabs on the rear edge.

Thanks. When I lift up and pull forward it comes a little ways and then hangs up on something, I didn’t want to pull more as I was afraid of messing something up. I located a lose cowl and firewall, so I will take a look at those tomorrow. Thanks again

Open the hood, tilt that thing up higher, it should come out. Better with two people to avoid any nicks in the paint

make sure to coat the wiper shafts with anti sieze before reinstalling the arms. It makes it easier, although not easy....
