My gas gauge reads empty when it really had about a 1/4 tank left in it. How can I wire up a warning light that tells me when i have about an eight of a tank left? Assuming that the problem with my gauge is in the gauge itself and not the sending unit?
Before I would build something, I think I would check out what the problem is. It won't get any better on its own and may get worse. Check the ground to the meter. Check the 12 volt wire to the meter. Check out the information in this Chevelle link. Try the resistor test Mike talks about. Problem may just be the calibration resistor. Elree says that 70s trucks are a good source to snag another one. If it's too cold to chase another calibration resistor down, the second link is another source. http://www.chevelles.com/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=22;t=002399
