Need to replace the heater core in my 70 Chevelle. Does it come out from the inside of the car? It looks like the box under the dash comes out but it looks like some kind of plastic rivet holds the box in. I don't want to start yanking on things and breaking plastic parts. The car is non AC which should make it easier?

Those rivets you see inside are the back of a stud that goes through the firewall. The nuts are on the engine side and you have to remove the inner passenger side fender well to get to all of them. It is not an easy job but it can be done with a lot of patience. Once you get the nuts removed, the box inside the car slides out and the heater core is inside.
