I'm doing a one for one dash swap in my '71 and I want to retain the current headlamp switch....how can I remove this from the dash? Thanks

After you gain access to the back of the switch.
There's a small button on the bottom of the switch. It's about 1/4 in diameter and is on top of a spring. That's the shaft release button. Push it in and pull the knob and shaft out of the switch.

Switch is held in by a nut on the front. Nut has a couple of slots in it. Sometimes a large pair of long nose pliers works. Put the nose(s) into the slot(s) and turn the nut.
