i’m assuming i need to take the dash pad off but what bulbs do i need and any recommendations for this project?
Yes, remove the dash pad by removing all the screws along the front edge and pulling it back towards you to release the securing tabs long the windshield side. The speedometer and SOME of the other bulbs will be fairly accessable from the top. Carefully twist and pull out the plastic bulb holders. There will be #194 bulbs in them. Replace the bulbs and test their operation before putting the dash pad back on.i’m assuming i need to take the dash pad off but what bulbs do i need and any recommendations for this project?
wow seems pretty simple, i thought i’d have to take some other things apart, thank you!Yes, remove the dash pad by removing all the screws along the front edge and pulling it back towards you to release the securing tabs long the windshield side. wish i had to money to have something like that but for now i’m working on a budget, thank you for the recommendation i’ll definitely check it out for the futureStick a Dakota Digital Cluster in there and it'll look like a brand new model where bright is concerned while maintaining the old appearance.
thank you for the warningDan he's in school and working so I'm pretty sure $ is a little tight and new bulbs are cheapjust be careful pulling the sockets out they break easy
i didn’t know multiple bulbs worked, i’ll do a little research thank youThere are a number of bulbs that fit that socket, and some are brighter than others. 1892, 194 and a few others. Try researching the wattage and you may find a better bulb, possibly a led.
Yes it is a luxury add on for sure. Check your dash ground. My 66 dash lighting was fairly weak as well. I saved up the money to make the change myself. Many are on a fairly tight budget right now so you're not alone there. Good luck..wish i had to money to have something like that but for now i’m working on a budget, thank you for the recommendation i’ll definitely check it out for the future
thank youWhen you remove the pad there are 6 screws that hold it down. 4 are in the area above the gauges and 2 are in the front top of the glove box.
If only it wasn't LED lit...I can't stand LED dash boards. Even dim that light is so harsh. Kills night vision.Dan he's in school and working so I'm pretty sure $ is a little tight and new bulbs are cheapjust be careful pulling the sockets out they break easy
