PDQ, do you remember anything about the A/FX, B/FX, and C/FX Mercury Comets from those days? Probably the most famous had to be "Dyno" Don Nicholson's A/FX'er. Back in the 80's, a good friend of mine had a real B/FX Comet. He had a blast running that car on the street with a blown SBC in it. He was smart enough to never cut the hood, just left it off. He was a dyed in the wool Chevy guy. He ran 10.80's in the car right off the street. When his "good" blower motor gave up the ghost one day, he just started stuffing stock 350 with a big cam and the blower, and running low 13's. I helped him change a few motors, sometimes it seemed like every weekend for a while.

He finally built a good 454 to run on nitrous, scrapped the blower program. Got back into the high 10's with it. Ended up selling the car, no motor or trans, for $4k back in '90 to a guy in the service. I'd suspect that car is fully restored now, and worth closer to $100k. The B/FX cars were smallblock equipped, with 4 Weber 2 throats. Man, I miss those days. My buddy used to take home money and trailer many cars at the big races, then drive that car home.
