Hey everyone,

I finally finished a project last month! I converted my 406 SBC to a supercharged setup. It’s 10.1 CR running forged internals and aluminum heads. I found a killer deal on a supercharger so I threw it on and converted my fuel setup to the Sniper. The cam is 255/263 @ 50 with a 110 LSA. For the time being I’ve been running 100 octane, but I’m going to convert to E85. My fuel and sniper setup can support up to 1350 HP, which is well beyond what I’m trying to achieve. Fuel lines are -8 AN

To simplify fueling up, I’m installing a flex fuel sensor on the return line and wiring it to the sniper. Next will be tuning the sniper for flex fuel, which is an option on the laptop.

So far it runs amazing! I installed a 2.85” for an upper pulley. I’d imagine I’m right around 5-6lbs boost.

Transmission is a T56 Magnum close ratio and 3.42 Detroit true trac in the differential.

This was the first car I bought back in 2004! I call it my science experiment.

Sweet setup!

I work a lot with snipers. I’m assuming you have the Super Sniper 1250. I dont know of a sniper besides the X-Flow that goes higher than 1250hp. I like your idea of using the extra inputs (that are available with the super sniper) to do a flex fuel sensor. That will be a nice setup for you with the non-intercooled super charger. Also just make sure you dont keep any e85 in it for any extended period of time. Snipers are notorious for clogging injectors with sustained use, or long periods of sitting, with e85. It’s advisable to run gasoline thru it before you park it for any length of time or flush it with gas every once in a while if you’re driving it frequently.

That is correct! It is an X flow in the classic gold. I was surprised to see how potentially simple it is to wire one into this setup. I’ll keep everyone posted how it goes. The flex fuel capabilities will help me with not keeping e85 in the tank for too long. Good advice!

UPDATE:

I’m configuring the Sniper EFI for Flex Fuel, currently. I’ve noticed there are limitations of the sniper over its superior siblings. It doesn’t have the custom I/O selection to setup a flex fuel sensor. No need the fear, as long as you buy a setup with a 5v reading you can customize a 5v input for the harness. I’ve got this figured out, next will be to setup a tune for flex fuel. There’s a lot of great videos out there, so I’ve got a base map ready. To confirm my E85 reading are correct, I purchased a separate E85 gauge to read off the sensor as well. FUEL-IT has an app, so I can checkout the reading from my phone.

I adjust the fuel map and smoothed it out and wow that made a difference. I still don’t have the flex fuel enabled because I installed it on a return line, which gets air and provides a periodic inaccurate reading. I’m going to move it to an input line before the return. After that I’ll enable a flex fuel tune. Meanwhile I’ve been adding some E85 up to E40 to prevent detonation, putting me around 95-96 octane mixed with 91.

The Holley software is a lot of fun to learn to use. At first, watching all the videos it didn’t seem to make much sense, but after watching a few and messing with the tune on the laptop at the same time, it really cleared things up. I can feel a big difference in the different throttle positions.

I still haven’t moved the flex fuel sensor to the fuel input side of the pressure regulator, but it does show me my e85 content, so I don’t overfill and make the car run like crap. Right now E35 is it’s happy spot. My goal is E50 for 97 octane with blending 91 with the E85.

It pulls incredibly strong! I’ve only brought the motor up to 5,900 RPM because I’m running out of road. It’s fully built to shift at 7k. I’m going to try to get a track day in before the end of year.
