I heard from a buddy that worked at a dealer in the sixties that when cars were ordered for stock sometimes they would order an odd option just to see what it was. One that sticks in my mind was a 64 Chevy 1/2 ton with rear leaf springs, that sold very quickly and more were ordered for stock. This may explain why some cars have one really odd option and not much else. I am sure other dealers did the same.
