I am assembling a 383 stroker good for 400-425hp. It has a 2 piece rear seal. I was told a hi volume oil pump will cause premature leaking from the 2 piece rear seal and a standard volume will work fine. any experience with this?

As suggested, your better off with a std vol pump for the perf lvl your motors at.

But install the optional slightly higher pressure relief spring that normally comes with the std vol pump that gives roughly 5-10 lb's addtional psi oil pressure (depending on clearances & oil viscosity) with motor hot @ cruise.
