Mabey you guys can help.I live in louisiana and its cold out right now.We have a 80 malibu classic SE with a 267"trash"lol ,v8.Two times this week my wife went to go to work and the car idled out really high when she crank it up.First time i found that a vacume hose had cracked.I cut it and re-hooked it up and it idled fine.Well, today same thing except I couldn't find a leaking hose anywhere.I even used a dr.stethascope and heard no hissing. Also,Would the heat riser valve sticking cause high idle?Any idea's?

Thanks man,
I will do that as soon as she gets off work.she called when she got to work a few min. ago and said that when it hit 2nd gear it idled out fine so that could be the problem. Its a damn good car, original engine with 57,000,original miles and purrs like a kitten,The engine that is.the only thing that wasn't either redone fixed or in great shape was the exhaust. The manifold gasket passenger side, has a small leak.I was going to replace the timing and go through the engine and replace all the seals but I believe that would be unwise.Hell,The $$ that would be spent replacing everything and restoring all the goodies would get a nice used 305.I had thought about a 350 but the fact is,We drive it everyday all day.No need for a hotrod"Just yet;) .All I require is a car that will go when it needs too.Lol.I love the 267 as far as its a simple half way gas efficient ride BUT! You can't "so I'm told" beef it up.
