Hi group. I think this should have been posted in the interior section and if it gets moved is fine but I hope someone out there can help me. I modified the trans. tunnel and we had to cut the ACC carpet kit and fit another piece on the tunnel. The car has a vertigate and it is what it is. Anyways, I would like to try and make this seamless rather than having someone bind the edges. Any upholstery guys that can give advice on what to do here? If this is not the job of an amateur, please say as you must. I am trying to avoid taking the car to a shop to have it done. My wife has taken on the carpet project and she really wants to do it herself. Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Back before molded carpet sets were available anywhere but factory, we used to lay the rolled out carpet in the car, mark the parts the need to be cut with chalk, cut with a seam allowance and take it to the sewing machine to sew the edges together, carpet side to carpet side. If done correctly, it looked almost as good as molded!

If we had a commercial sewing machine, she would try to do that. My wife is a heck of a seamstress. When we first started out she use to make her own clothes to save money. I have said all along if she had a commericial sewing machine, she could easily do this and any interior work for that matter. I am thinking about getting a commercial sewing machine for her and let her play with it somewhere down the road. But back on track, it looks like I will have to either take it to an upholstery shop or just bind the edges and I wanted to avoid that.

thanks
