Found these while doing an online search of TH350 shift kits....yet the standard one Summit sells is $81 just for the standard shift kit....

Which has me thinking are these some sort of imitation trans go shift kit? I want to purchase one for my tranny but am skeptical because I don't know if this is really a good deal or not.

Any input? Has anyone used one of these from Oregon performance transmission?

Look at the feedback and the quantity for sale. they are probably a parts warehouse also. They have good deals on alot of the items they list. My local transmission shop gave me alot of help on a ford trans I rebuilt, so I bought all the parts from him and he did better than Summits price on a transgo kit. I'm looking at 1 of these for a t-400 I'm going to rebuild for the velle. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TH40...emQQcategoryZ33727QQitemZ2479134545QQtcZphoto

Eh, not really sure....what's the reprogramming kits?

I had a vehicle once that had I believe a B&M shift kit, had the real snappy 1-2 shift that could bark the tires....I didn't install it but I did like it....of course I later hear that barking tires between gears is bad, plus everyone seems to hate the $29 B&M shift kit yet loves the Trans Go shift kits.

Pretty much looking for something to make the tranny perform better at the track.

Hey Dawg,

I guess I'm the odd man out. I like the B&M kit. As stated above, there are two packages...1.shift improver kit,...2.transpak.

As it's name implies, kit 1 crisps up the shifts from stock. For a few more bucks, kit 2, transpak, has two options on install. Option 1 is Heavy Duty for towing, campers, 4X4's. Produces firm noticeable shifts.

Option 2 is the street/strip level of performance. Very firm positive shifts. It comes with a new 1-2 shift valve, stiffer pressure regulator spring, a new separator plate, and some other goodies. When installing this option, you only reuse 3 of the check balls, and you drill out the separator plate orifice with a 5/32 drill bit supplied.

One of the main features of this kit...transpak that is....is it gives you the ability to downshift into low gear at any speed and hold it in low up to any speed you want.

Good luck on your journey to neck snapping shifts !

The $30 B&M kit has two settings. RV/HD and damage your transmission Street/Strip.

The problem is both options do mods that can potentially cause damage to your transmission. The HD setting removes the 1-2 accumulator spring. I don't recommend this mod on a TH350. There are other ways to firm up the shifts that won't cause a intermediate sprag or race failure.

The Street/Strip setting IIRC leaves this spring in place but creates issues elsewhere.

The sad part is that the cheapy kit offered by B&M has the capability of being a decent piece but they are catering to what the market thinks it wants instead of using good principles to design a kit that actually helps the trans out.

If you really know what you are doing you can use the B&M kit and make it work without damaging the trans but you won't be following their instructions.

Damage your transmission street/strip....lol....

Seriously just looking to make my sloppy as hell shifting TH350 better for when I go tracking or just an afternoon cruise. I kinda liked my B&M kit but don't want to run one now that I know what I know.

I plan on staying foward valve body at this time.

No Jake can't say I've ever installed a trans shift kit before but it doesn't seem like brain surgery. I thought I might try this at home.

Are the Trans Go shifts softer than the B&M yet still firm?

When I rebuilt my TH350 I bought a Transgo kit called the "No YoYo" kit for around $16 from www.bulkpart.com. It was supposed to firm up shifts and correct some "inherent problems" with a TH350. It contained a different valve body separator plate, an assortment of governor springs, and maybe a few other odds and ends that I can't remember. Anyway, it did firm up the shifts, to the point I put the stock separator plate back in since I didn't want that firm of a shift with my stock 350 engine and trans (not a hot rod). BUT the governor spring assortment alone was worth the $16 because it allowed me to dial in the shift points since they were way low (trans was from a 2.56 or 2.73 geared car and mine has 3.36). Most governor spring/weight kits are around $50 by themselves. By playing with the vacuum modulator (new one is about $10) adjustment and governor springs I got slightly firmer shifts than stock and the shift points at the correct speed/rpm.

The 2nd one also dual feeds the direct clutches. The no yoyo works fine, the trans I used it in gave slightly firmer shifts & made the p/t shift point more consistent.
