4 door folks, please let me say, I apologize for the images you are will see in this post. I sacrificed a 72 4 door Malibu to give some new life to my 72 2 door Malibu. That having been said, I am partial to my coupe as it is my first car. I know, that by itself means very little to all of you. What is important is the fact that I purchased my car in 1978 when I was when I was seventeen years and I have held on to all these years. It’s been everywhere between Daytona Beach in Florida to Mission Beach in San Diego, CA coast to coast The real reason for the post is to see if all of you can assist me in determining a value for what I have left. I’d really like to know how much I might expect to get for the rolling chassis and remnants of the body. Three out of the four doors are dent and real rust free except for patina discoloration. The rear passenger door has a dent in the skin. This was an AC car and all the glass is good. I also have a lot of other parts including air conditioning and heater parts and controls as well as interior stuff and much more that I would like to get rid of. At this time, I would like to focus on seeing what you guys think my big parts chassis and body shell may be worth. Let me thank all of you for taking a look and providing your thoughts.

Whatever someone will stroke a check for. There is little value outside of its current weight in scrap.

I would like for the doors to find a home as they are in good condition. The shell of the body is what I would like to know about. The floor pans are still good with just a bit of surface rust after the rain got inside. They are still solid. Wouldn't the front section of a four door floor be the same as a two door? I know the trunk area is because the rear section was taken from this car and it fit right into my two door like swapping drawers in a chest of drawers. Here are a few photos of that area.

It appears that those floors have already been worked over with new sheet metal. This would make them less desirable. And nevertheless, they are quite rusty.

The doors, and especially the wing vent windows would be useful to somebody.

There is value to all of it, the problem is finding the person who wants it and prohibitive shipping relative to the value of the parts if they are not local to you. I've struggled with this for a long time, and now I give items one pass on craigslist and on here and if no takers, off to scrap it goes. I just took two pickup truck loads of stuff just like this out of my garage attic to the dumpster. Seems like a shame, but unless you can store the car long term and constantly market the items, its not worth it.

Theres next to nobody doing a full resto on a 68-72 4 door chevelle that would want the doors. And if you do find somebody that wants them they will not be willing to pay decent money for 4 door doors.

Sounds like the body shell should go to scrap. I'll keep the doors with hopes that someone out there may need them in the future. They are all good, have AC glass and I do have all the interior door panels, handles and armrests. Hers's another question, I have heard that there are some1950's Mercury's that have four body mounts that match the four door Malibu frame exactly. Would anyone be able to confirm that for me? If that is the case, maybe I need to put the chassis out there for them to look at. Thanks to all who have taken their time to chime in on this.

I posted on your other thread about the door panels. I am interested in the doors if you still have them. Currently fixing up a 72 four door.

Know Joe Vega would have been more than glad to have that four door tub, but again, logistics is the problem. A lot of good metal still in that car. The additional four inches of wheelbase length is in between the front and rear foot wells, to best of my knowledge. Would also suspect that four door frames have been shortened, by skilled individuals, so that too has value at this point in time.
Would not mind at all, having a bare bones four door sedan, as a daily driver. But not a whole lot left out there.

I highly doubt that. I like Dave's suggestion about listing on craigslist and if no takers junk it. I know you think you have something there but you are definitely going to have a hard time getting anything above scrap for that.

You got what you needed, just kick it to the curb.

On another thread a member is looking for a transmission crossmember
Hey, I just saw your response and I appreciate you giving me the heads up on someone looking for a trans cross member. I have attached two photos from two sides showing what I have. If you wouldn't pointing me to that thread, I may share my images with them too.

Thanks

Mark
