I got a floor shift steering column in for my 66 Chevelle and removed my old column shift. The floor shift columns end by the wheel was bent so I gutted my old column and just installed the new smooth shifter-less parts on it. I got it all back together but won't start.

I read somewhere on here to check the neutral saftely switch was to unplug it and it will start is that is it. I found it, purple wires and the green wired back up light switch. Why won't it start? I am going to splice in extra wire on the purple nss and hook it to my new B&M pro stick but not real confident it will start since it didn't before. Am I doing something wrong.

You need to JUMPER the two connections together on the neutral safety switch plug. THEN, try cranking the engine. Taking the plug off opens the starter circuit.

That was it, thanks Jerry. Never thought about it being open.
