Removing gauge cluster out of my 69' Chevelle. How do you get the lens away from the gauge cluster? If you grind the green plastic off - what do you use to reapply the plastic lens back to the cluster? Thanks for all your help - GREAT SITE!!

I have done a few of them and most of them are just barly melted from the factory, also wrap a peice of aluminun foil around the solding iron so it doesnt get too hot, makes it easier to do.

I saw a cluster lens removal in CC a while back. They used asmall drill bit to drill the center of the melted plastc points. Just enough to allow you pop the mount. They used small screwsand clear washers (hobby sized for plastic) to put it back together.

This was on a sweep cluster, and the screws were not visible, not sureif your cluster has mount tabs like that. A soldering iron mightmake a sloppy job if you aren't careful.

I have done this kind of repair on RC cars and models to removeplastic/glue mount tabs. Try it on a junk cluster and keep usposted.
