i went to the junk yard today and found a set of old cal custom aluminum valve covers for 10 bucks!! i am going to glass bead them and sell them but dont know what it came off of . it had shaft rockers and the distributor was in the rear im thinking buick? it was in a 57 chevy pickup

Did the valve covers sit almost flat horizontal on the heads? If so, that would be a Buick nailhead.

Chevy trucks had Pontiac V-8s in them back then. I'm not sure about shaft rockers though.

hmm il try to upload a pic but the valve covers resemble ford small block valve covers to some extent

Your gonna have to be a lot more specific, what shape were they? How did they fit on the engine?how many bolts hold them on? Maybe a big block olds?

UM Ford SBC's didn't have shafts either.

But chysler small blocks have shafts,and the vavle covers look kinda like ford covers

Closest to reality that I'm aware of would be Canadian Pontiac's with Chevy V-8's.

Thats a Buick motor. Also the first GMC, that had V8,were Pontic motors.

Early 50,s Chevy / GMC trucks did have buick nailhead engines but usually the 1 tons ......never heard of the 1/2 tons with Nailheads

i think its mopar valve covers judging by the google search they are notched with breathers in the middle and are held on by 6 fasteners
