I purchased a new 1967 chevelle SS396 shortly before being discharged from the Air Force and drove it home from where i was stationed in Montanna. In 1969 I foolishly traded it in for a Nova.I would like to konw if the car is still around and if so who owns it ,and is it for sale, and if so how much are they asking.
I tried a couple of the online Vehicle Id searches but it would not acept theserial # that I have .
Any one haveany sugestions,on how I can find this vehicle?
Thanks
Bob

Without knowing who owned it next thanks to privacy reasons your quest is almost impossible. For example my car built in Atlanta, went to Ca, Then to NM, then back to Tenn. States want release that kind of info and knowing which state to ask would be a trick within itself.:noway:

Yes That's exactly what I am finding out.I just want to locate the car it's like a part of my youth that I let slip through my hands.
I know it's hard to believe That a car could hold so many memories.
If it is any help I traded it in Dec 30,1968 at Cochituate Motors in a section of wayland called Cochituate.for a 1969 Nova 2.The serial 3 was 138177K156954.
Thanks

Hire a private investigator.

The DMV's have privacy restrictions, and police departments are not allowd to give out the info either- but that doesn't mean they can't get it- Thats where a PI comes in.

by still having the vin number recorded, i'd say you have a pretty good chance of at having a PI tracking at least some of the history after you sold it.

Be prepared that the car may have already been crushed long ago though. Many many many were.

It's pretty much next to impossible to trace it. Good luck in your quest.
:( i'd like to find mine too. last time i seen her was in 1970. someone had stole it, when it was found everything was stripped from the car, nothing left but basicly the shell and frame. i'm sure it ended in a tragic death, the dreaded crusher. good luck with your quest.chuck
