I am finishing my 1971 Chevelle 350 after 2 years of very hard work. I have purchased a new brake power booster with a new master cylinder. I do not know what color to paint each item (The booster, The master cylinder)
The block is Chevy orange, the intake a silver sparkle, the oil pan is black, along with the valve covers. I am having trouble deciding what color to paint the booster. This is a big item in the engine compartment, so I know that the proper color is important. I have been thinking of painting the booster a glossy black and the master cylinder cast iron gray and then powder coat the top silver sparkle.
Give me some input.

K, you can paint your booster any way you like, and that's okay. Now, if you want it to look like it did when it rolled off of the assembly line, maybe even better than that, check this out!

I purchased three of Steve's boosters for my projects because they look like fine jewelry, when you pop the hood they say HELLO!

I used "Hammerite" silver and gold made by Krylon or Rustoleum (can't remember here at the office). Anyway it's a got a weird look to it like what was used on big industrial machinery, but everyone here that has seen it thinks it's a factory applied finish. I used it on the booster and all the pulleys. Comes in silver, gold (used on the alt pulley) and black. I got it at Lowes (Home Improvement Ctr.) The pulleys I also lightly baked in the oven overnite to make the finish more durable (heat to about 180 then turn off).

Keith I am with Tom on this one, factory appearance s the only way to go. Like you said it is an important piece.

PS Have you been going to the Cruise-ins at Volusia Mall? I think the next one is September 29th? Look me up.
