First off I'm keeping my drum brakes on moser 9 in. I've installed everything according to the posts here but I couldnt find anything on the retaining plate bolting on before the backing plate or after it, or that my sealed axle bearing sticks out about an 1/8 in. from the housing, is this correct. Also should I put RTV where the O-ring is. I put it where the axle seal goes. Instructions mention nothing about an A-body with drum brakes or any photos. Guess moser thinks everyone who buys from them are experts, very dissapointed with them. Thanks for the help!!

what ends did they put on it-did you tell them you were using drum brakes, and the orig 12 bolt brakes-if so, the backing plate needs to be bored out to match the bearing dia.

I told them to put on chevy ends and I was using my drum brakes, I bored out the center just wondering does the retainer go first or the backing plate, if the retainer then is there a shim or something. Thanks

the backing plate should go on first, then the axle (be sure not to tear the o-ring on the bearing) the bearing should stick out a tiny bit to register the backing plate, then the retainer should go on-the bearing will stick out a little past the b/p-just make sure the axle is in all the way

Are you using a seal in the axle tube? If not then you will probbly have a leak. The axle bearing sticks out about 1/8 inch because the backing plate is about 1/8 inch thick. This should put the bearing almost flush with the surface of the backing plate. The retainer goes on last and should tighten up against the bearing and backing plate.

Thanks for all the help, I did install the inner seal the way you explained to other people. I appreciate the help, if it wasnt for this site I probably would of given up on this hobby of mine, Thanks again.
