Hey everyone, just signed up on the site. Came over here from Camaros.net. Just figured this would be another great place to get info.

I only have a Camaro for now, but I am always looking to find my dad's 67SS, Granada Gold, Black Interior and 4-speed. He sold it when I was 14 and we have both regretted it ever since.

Just wanted to know if anyone had some suggestions for a great body shop and engine builder in the Nashville area. Just relocated my family up here and my car is in pieces because of a not so professional shop back in Florida. So if there are any recommendations, and first hand stories, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Dustin

Hi Dustin,

There is a cylinder head shop on Gallatin Rd in Inglewood; the guy there knows of an excellent machine shop. I can't remember the name right now.

Head Works Of Nashville
4003 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
(615) 208-6117

I'm sure he would know of a good engine builder too !

I'm in Murfreesboro and have asked this same question a few times without much success.
Engine - I have seen the most recommendations for and engine builder in Lewisburg, south of Nashville down I-65. Ty Tech performance. He is a machine shop and builder. Supposedly very nice and doesn't charge crazy prices.
There is another shop in Franklin called Hardcore Horsepower. They build very nice stuff and also give a 3year warranty. I have only heard a few mentions of them. Nice machine work and a nice dyno setup. Seems to really know his stuff.

Body - I have not found many consistent recommendations for body work. The place I would use is Mid South Restorations in Cookeville, TN. Not too far away. They do some awesome work.

If you have a good experience(or bad) let me know. I'm still trying to figure out where to go and who to trust.

Yo Dustin,
I'm originally from Nashville (sorry, don't know any recommendations there), but I live in Tampa now. Where in Florida were you. I'll ask your question back to you... Any recommendations on mechanics in Florida (you may not have even been in this area, but thought it was worth asking you)?

Hoping to get back to TN for good some day.

Thanks again for the guidance everyone. I will check into all the companies listed and will hopefully have good news to give everyone.

I was from the Crystal River, Fl area. It is kind of in the middle of no where, but there is a really good engine builder there, I just ran out of time to be able to have him do my work. If you're interested pm me and I will get his info to you.

Thanks!!

Also to all those in the Franklin and South Nashville area, are there any cruise ins or car shows on the south side of Nashville?? I found one in Hendersonville that is awesome, but it is a little bit of a drive.

Smyrna has one Thursday nights.

Murfreesboro has one at The Avenue Friday night.
