I picked up a 454 for my car and it's a 361959 so 73 to 85 454 car or truck.

The problem is the suffix code is stamped T61520198. Can't seam to find any information about this engine.

it's not the usual suffix numbers to find out the rest of the info about it. Does anyone know what this code means??

According to the Lime book: 1975/76/77 454 from a truck, manual transmission, 4 barrel; built January 20. Check for a casting date code on the bell housing flange to zero in on the year. Report the block number as well. Block is likely a 4-bolt main.

Hard to tell the date code from your picture - maybe a little too close of a shot. I simply get K6()5 out of that, possibly indicating November 6, 1975. Maybe that blob is a 7, I've seen some pretty messed up foundry numbers before. If that is the date, it lines up with your TSD engine code.

Picture of the holes on the side/area above the oil filter pad will tell the story on two or four-bolt caps. Likely 4 given it was in a truck application.

If luck is on your side it may be but I've had several 1975 361959 blocks that were all 2-bolts. All were removed from GMC K30 based ambulances fwiw.

I got a better picture of the casting date and it looks like it's 75.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
I guess I will know if its a 4 bolt when I take the oil pan off. Guy I bought it from said it was a 2 bolt but he never had it apart.
Either way I got my Big Block so I'm happy.
One other question will a small block starter work on a big block? Flywheel is the same diameter.
Thanks again.
