Hello, I am finishing up doing the Grand Cherokee steering gear box swap on my 1968 malibu and need some advice:

When I installed the gear box, to get the pitman arm to line up with the center link, the arm had to be moved. This resulted in the rag joint no longer being in the correct position.(bolts at 12:00 and 6:00, with the head of 12 pt, coupler clamp bolt pointing straight up) the bolts are now at more like 3:00 and 9:00.

My understanding is that now I Must loosen the clamps on the tie rods and move them both the same number of turns in the same direction until the rag joint is once again centered.

Does this sound correct? any help is appreciated

That should change the position of the pitman arm. Mark the locations first and if it doesn't you can move it back without messing up the alienment.
