69 chevelle at the bulk head connector
i have a large red wire and a small
yellow and white wire i am not clear on
the two wires at the one connector
yellow and white is the resistor wire
the large red one? i am not sure.....
do i need to remove both or just the
resistor wire?

The only factory installed red wire is the main power from the horn relay. What is the red wire you're concerned about connect to. you should only need to remove the white/orange/purple wire. Then replace it with a #12 wire. If you have the factory type wire terminals (male) you can install the new wire into the bulkhead in place of the wh/or/ppl wire. If you don't have the terminal you will drill through the firewall and connect the wire to the IGN terminal on the fuseblock. I prefer to terminate the new wire in the bulkhead.

this wire is a large redish/pinkish
wire.the resistor wire is piggy backed on to
it at the connector.the bulkhead connector map looks this

w - -
x - 1 - -
y - - - -
z - - - -
a b c d

where i put the number 1 is the
trem. with the resistor wire and the
other unkonwn wire!

The pink wore must be an add on. My guess is that it was added for HEI. What is the other end connected to? The Y B location is correct for the coil feed.

at this time it does not connect to
any thing and to tell the truth i
dont remember if it was hooked up or not
i removed the engine a few years back
the connector is not the same as the
hei one but i guess i can change it

Sounds like that will work. Just be sure to either cut the resistor wire at the bulkhead and disconnect the yellow wire at the starter or if you want to leave the stock wiring for possible future use tape it and the yellow wire at the starter. I can make you a replacement wire for the HEI with the correct terminal ends and HEI connector. e-mail if you want.
