How hard is this thing to remove and should I. I am in beginning of resto, the car had mice in it and I am disassembling everytihng and cleaning it. this box looks like a p.i.t.a to remove so I would rather leave it if at all possible. Also will an assembly manual show a pretty good diagram of how all the vacuum lines and wires are supposed to route under there because 35 years of hillbilly hands seemed to have left an array of misplaced uncut wires.
Thanks Chris

It's a piece of cake once the front clip is off.:D And yes you should remove it, as it is like the best place for mice to hide. It even has it's own mouse gym build right into it. Dont know what year your talking about, but you'll be looking at the AM lots of times, for lots of things, and I would strongly suggest you get one.

I think Jim's talking the engine side.

For the interior side, I'm sure you could take the stuff out w/o removing the dasha ssembly, but I took it all out since it was all getting re-done. I'll see if I have any good pics of the vac lines. I do know that there's 4 studs that poke through to the engine side you will have to undo the nuts on. 2 were easy, 1 was tougher because it's behind the enginesome, and the 4th required me to slide a hand behind the inner fenderwell. There's a few bolts to the firewall from inside too.

I agree. It's easy to remove. Going to the extent your are, just remove it. Just take pictures. Remember to bag and tag. Removing it will also allow you to check for vin or partial vin on the firewall.

The dash and engine are out. I was going to take pics but everything looks like it is messed up so no point in putting it back that way. It looks like there are missing bolts or nuts on the inside but maybe that's factory. I'll take a closer look at it. Thanks Chris

The deeper I get in to this under the dash the more worried I get about gettingit all back in there correctly, that's why I am worried about taking it all out. I guess your all correct- I should take it out.
