110 migs will get weaker if they are used a lot or taken out of the duty cycle on occasion.

They might be really good ones, depends on how and how much they were used.

Then if your not a real good welder like myself, when your using a just bought used machine you will wonder if part of the reason your welds aren't to good is the machine.

A new machine will help you in your confidence level knowing fine adjustments to the settings will be right on.

I've got a Lincoln 180 myself. From reading all the welder posts in the last year and a half, there's a lot of interest in the 110V machines. I've never seen these advertised cheaper. They come complete with regulator, wire, etc.

a 110 volt MIG is a bit like watching strippers at a totally nude bar,
you have everything you need and it all looks good, but you just can,t do everything you would like to do, once you realize the restrictions

yes theres no doubt that you'll pay more but you'll also have a great deal more versatility if you buy something like this welder below that works on EITHER 110volt or 230 volt feed, and its sure going to do a great deal better welds on stuff that thicker than body and exhaust sheet metal, like suspension brackets, and frame repairs

Nothing at all wrong with a 120 volt mig for doing autobody repairs and many other jobs.

And no, they do not get weaker from use. :noway:

Ive had my miller 135 for 10 years about and it still works and looks like new.And Ive run a lot of wire through that thing. All I do is take care of it.When something need to be replaced it gets replaced all there is to it.Shop welders in general are junk because so many different people use them and not all know what there doing and don't care about maintaining it because they didn't pay for it.

Well, you're not as old as I am Rub. :D

I'll admit that they might need a little maintenance occasionally.
My big Miller mig, I inherited from a cousin that was a retired professional welder of over 40 years and believe me, it has been used plenty and it is one welding son of a gun but it did need one new diode a few years ago.

My 475 amp Lincoln stick welder is older than Methuselah and it works great also.

My 120 volt Miller mig is only about 10 years old but it still works as good as it did when it was new.
