Headliner Replacement?

Need a new headliner for my 66 Chevelle 300 sedan. Eventually I will be painting the interior metal surfaces to match the outside of the car. Should I wait to paint before replacing the headliner, sail panels, and all related trim? I won't be painting until at least next year, but my headliner is in dire need of a fix up now!

see if a local shop can make a repair to the current one. If so, weigh the cost against the possibility of ruining a new one when its removed for paint. The other option is to simply remove it completley for now.
