Hello,

72 chevelle 2 door. Does the rear view mirror support bracket go on first before the headliner? I have seen on u tube that the bracket is screwed to the roof section and then the headliner goes on under the bracket. Then the mirror arm swivel and boot goes on later.

Thanks

Final assembly should resemble this on a 1970 (without the newer Homelink garage remote panel). This is an original headliner showing shadows of the sun visors. Headliner is installed first, then the metal rear mirror bracket, then the vinyl covering over the bracket.

I need a better detailed picture. I am still not sure because I have noticed that the mirror bracket goes on first then the headliner. Does someone have a better picture so that I do this right?

Thanks

Here is how my 69 Elco came apart when I did the headliner, and I believe this was original. It's how I reinstalled it.

I installed the bracket after the headliner, I have never seen it any other way.

Cool, great. That's the way I'm installing the bracket. Headliner first then bracket. It looks like the on the u tube video the person has his windshield in place, maybe can't get to the screws. The other video the windshield is out but the guy put the bracket on first. That got me confused. No body explained that part.
I got it now.

Thanks everyone ☺

The windshield does not need to be out to install the headliner or the mirror.
But if the windshield IS out (and the rear glass), the headliner job will be MUCH easier!
