I have a 72 Malibu hardtop and will be putting in a new LS376/480 engine with the 6L80-E automatic transmission. I have been researching appropriate headers and the information is over-whelming. I am doing coilovers so clearance must be considered if I were to lower it a max of 2". Anyone have experience or recommendations for brand, long, medium, or block hugger, pipe sizes, etc,

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I put an LS376/525 in my '65 El Camino. I used Sanderson short headers. The engine is mounted in the standard position, i.e. not set back. The transmission is a Tremec TKO-600, 5-speed. There was good clearance on the passenger side and it was a bit close on the drivers side, but not a problem. I was originally considered going with long tube headers. However, mine is a cruiser, not a race car. Read the attached article from the Sanderson website that talks about long versus short headers. After reading it, I decided on "shorties". Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

I have a LS376/480 and TKX in my '69 Beaumont and am using the Hooker LS swap long tubes, they went in with no modifications (so far, I'm still in the reassembly phase but have the steering, heater box, PS, starter, brakes, and transmission all installed). Not necessarily the cheapest of options but so far they are headache free.
