I need to pick a set of headers for my '68 with a 454. Its an approximately 500hp engine. What I need to know is which brand fits the best as far as ease of installation, access to plugs and oil filter, ground clearance etc... I am looking at the Hedman 68190 or the Hooker 2455. Anybody have any recommendations?

TIA

I second the Headman Elites. Most of the Hookers that I have dealt with have had great plug, oil filter and steering shaft clearence but poor ground clearence. The Headmans have everything you need with the bonus of thicker primary tubing and head flanges. Dougs Headers ( not Doug Thorley ) are another great option with all of the above mentioned benefits. With your motor combo, I would stay with the 1-3/4" primary tube size for the street. If you pan on more power in the near future you could step up to 2" primaries but I think it might hurt your low end torque if you were to stay at your current power level for the street.
