I am replacing the dash on my 71 Chevelle with a custom aluminum dash (of my own engineering). I want to replace the old head light switch with one or more of the toggle switches that I plan on putting in. My question is, what wires do I need to be concerned with and how many switches do I need to dedicate for this type of operation? I believe it will take two switches, one for the head lamps and one for the marker lights. I am not concerned about dimming the dash lights.Has anyone else done this before and do you have a wiring diagram for it.

First concern is what to do about protecting the head lights. There is a circuit breaker inside the factory head light switch. Going to a toggle switch eliminates that. A short on that line without the breaker will burn wires.

Thanks, that is exactly the type of advice that I need. I will just integrate the head light switch (as-is) into my other switches
