Without looking at my book, I think the total was 3,019 L78's in 66 Chevelles.

If that's wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

EDIT: Book says 3,099 L78's. I was close.:)

The best info we have on production comes from the Tonawanda Plant numbers from big block engine production. Their figures are 3,167 engines made, with 68 of them being service engines. Subtracting the two will provide the 3,099 figure. As always, records of 40 year old production should be considered a close estimate, since there is no way to crosscheck it and confirm with plant production.
