Before the motor goes back in on my '71 SS, I want to get the grounding straps installed and ready. The old one's were pretty mangled and ugly, so I want to replace them with some custom made cables once I determine where they go. So the question is: What are the correct/best places to put the ground straps? Are there any other locations not stock that would benefit performance?
Thanks for the help!!

The stock ground straps on my smallblock '69 go from the firewall to the rear valve cover bolts. As far as I know there is no performance to be gained from ground straps but they are necessary to prevent problems such as the shifter cable welding to the housing. There should also be a strap from the body to the frame.
