I have a 68 and am looking at the AM to install the ground straps. Does anyone out there know what the heck part(s) of the car that they're trying (poorly) to show on U63, A5?

Thanks in advance.

That's a drawing of the frame and the lower part of the firewall ("DASH & TOE PANEL).
I believe that strap was only used with the AM/FM radio option.

See this post for pictures. I know it's not a 1968, but should give you the general idea.

If it was me, I'd like to see all cars that have front bumper mounted turnsignals have a dedicated ground between the frame and the body (via the "dash toe" for example) so the frame has a good electrical ground which in turn grounds the front bumper which in turn grounds the turnsignal housings.

Hi Bill,
do you think that view is of the driver's side? What about the upper views?
It's the passenger side, like in Joe's pics.

It seems to me that the AM radio used a ground strap, while the AM/FM radio used an additional ground strap. This is what I recall according to the 1967 Assembly Manual, which I can't put my hands on right this minute.

Joe is the man!

Hey, my Old Red car isnt a 100pt resto so, I replaced the ground strap, and added one to do what Joe says. Motor to frame and frame to body. Battery neg has a body ground, so, for this engine ground also grounded to the frame ( making a complet bat-engine-frame-body loop ) and rear of cylinder head to frame. Can't have enough good grounds!
