I'm working on a local car show here in Colorado and we want to try to put together "goodie bags" to hand out to attendees. Does anyone have any advice for vendors to contact, etc.?

Thanks,
Bill

I've been to a couple of car shows lately where Hagerty has supplied tote bags to use for goody bags. You might try Summit and Jegs for decals, catalogs, etc. Also maybe some of the larger Chevelle/GTO/Ford/Mopar parts vendors. Other than that, try some local businesses for pens, cards, etc.

Those things are such a waste. All that happens is that stuff collects dust for a while before getting chunked. Seems like a huge waste to me. Even the bags are usually worthless. Give me a decent LL Bean backpack or something and keep the cheap Chinese piece of crap that splits open after one use.

People with bags full of stuff walking around high dollar paint jobs??
I havent ever heard of any goodie bag related show paint incidents and people walk around with all kinds of stuff thats dangerous to paint.....like their children....and they sit under EZ ups....and they wear jeans with metal buttons...and they have wifes with sunshade umbrellas....

The day I get damage from a plastic keychain, calendar, cup and some stickers or whatever else is the day I start a no kids, no wifes, no EZups allowed car show. ;)

And I should have prefaced my post, these bags will be going to the car show entrants. The show is being held in a downtown area which has retailers, restaurants, etc. The retailers are going to be giving out coupons for dining, discounts, etc.

I agree with Beaux, I'm much more concerned about fellow show entrants at times than the general public around my car.

Most of the bigger shows here end up having sponsors (hospitals, etc.) that hand out stuff so just about everyone who attends a show, participant or the normal public, ends up going home with a bag of something...

For those who don't enter car shows, it's pretty much the norm at a show to get a goody bag. Some bag contents better than others of course. Many people expect it as part of their entry fee.

Hey Bill, I am organizing The 3rd Annual West Coast Chevelle Gathering (WCCG) and have turned down companies that keep offering me goody bags and bag stuffers. My theory is that as a participant, I never use coupons, discounts, or even really read anything in a goody bag. And as a guy who does care a little bit about just throwing everything away, I passed on goody bags and their contents. No joke, I have 2 goody bags full of stuff I'll never use or even look at in my Chevelle's trunk right now.

If you're going to spend the time and effort to contact companies (I've contacted about 125 companies for my event), ask for prizes or giveaways, not for goody bag stuffers.

If you really feel the need, contact all the sponsors you see on race cars, race tracks, and other car related events. That's what I did and I have a stellar prize list.

Good luck. You'll get about 33 no's to every yes!

Hey, I once got a clown nose in a goody bag. One of my prize possessions. ;) I do like some of the pens that come in goody bags too. I really like Hagerty's pens.
