well i stop for gas this a.m. and all of a sudden i'm in a time warp, the only other cars in the station is, a 63 dodge p/up and a 48 m.g. the only thing missing was a guy in a crew shirt cleaning my windshield, and asking if i needed the oil checked?

i'm heading down the street to an intersection where it has 3 left turn lanes, i hit the inside lane and blow by a t/a, he catches me immediately, really nice triple black, and making all the right noises. he pulls up at the next light and asks me if i want to trade? i tell him if he throws a couple grand in, i'd think about it... we both laugh knowing his t/a is worth quite a bit more than my lowly lemans.

we hit the reduced radius on ramp, i see in my rearview that the freeway is empty and wide open, we hit it pretty hard, and are able to run for a bit.

i get to work, and it stikes me, just how beautiful this car is, the sun is coming up, and the paint is good enough to look white on white from one angle, and really dark green from another, the shadows are bouncing off the belt lines and detail of the body, and my wheels look like maybe they don't really need new paint (they do desperately), and all i could think about, is that the designer of this body really put a lot of thought and energy into it. no slab sides, no detail left undone. it may not be a gto, but it is a real looker. might just have to drop some $ in the ol girl. time to drop some duals on her, to breath a little better..

hope the rest of my day is this good.....

Cool story Bill. Thanks for sharing. Sometimes I wish I could drive mine to work, it would be a nice ride over the Mississippi as the sun is coming up. 600 cars in a limestone parking lot and a classic hot rod don't mix though.

i went down to grab some breakfast, and a lady drives in, a baby blue, bone stock nova. it's a 307 car, bench seat, original hub caps. now i like a good muscle car, but it struck me what a great commuter this car was, decent m.p.g. and great lines. looks like it might be a car day...

A few years back, mid 90's I'm driving on I90 coming into Cleveland. Notice I'm running on fumes so I pop off on the first exit I see and roll into this little neighborhood called Bratenhal. Pulled into an old timely looking station and this guy runs out, asks me what kind of gas and how much, pumps my gas and cleans my windshield! There was only one island in the place so this wasn't some full service option deal. It was SOP. Now that was a scary time warp right there. Only thing missing was the vintage cars to go along with it. I often wonder if that station is still there and do they still do that or was that some kind of twilight zone episode. To get back to your heading... a day that starts off good is still a day that starts off good. So even if it goes bad after that, it is at worst a half bad day. Call me an optimist. :)
