Alright guys looks like its game on for Sunday. I have everything ready that is going to be for this weekend.

Last time out my combo was coming on hard at 6200 even though I am supposed to shift at 6K. I wasnt getting into the good rpms going through the traps either. Turned out to be the cam was installed 8 degrees retarded:(

My best time is in my sig.

So I have advanced the cam 10 degrees, and moved the battery to the trunk.

Any guesses?

Gee Darryl isnt that about 2 hundreths slower than the nova on motor?:D Your gona have to cut a hell of a light to get ahead of me:D

I agree...that way you stay within reaching distance for the rest of us:)

Have fun on Sunday, and we can line them up next Friday...
I think I am gona have to speed way up once you get some real tires under that beast;)

I would hope not since its gona be a sunday race where they lay VHT down compared to Friday tnts where they normally let the imports prep the track:sad:

Unfortunately I didnt gain any ET. mph was a 117.7 barely better.

1400 more feet of air didnt help from the last time out.

Heres the kicker though first time run I screwed up on the lights and rolled out before the lights came down so I didnt get a timeslip or post on the board.

This was the only pass I tossed the belt, and I didnt it at the top end of 2nd gear where I noticed the rpms go faster again. But in third gear it went up to 6400-6500 through the traps.

With the belt on for the rest of the day I go through the traps at 6100.

Stock pulleys, stock alternator, flex fan, edelbrock vc jr high volume pump(that is hard to turn by hand). Whatcha think guys could this be where my power is hiding out?

I put the numbers into the calculator and on the low side I was going 121 and high side was 123. Id be happy with that:thumbsup:

Remember when we spoke about the 327 you guys are building and i said if the cam was in tact with the build install the cam straight up {106° lobe center with ICL @ 106°} ?? My data has shown IF the cam is correct the cars ET better with "0" advance - you just found out also but still Nice Ride

Brian,

Underdive the system and install a cut off switch for the ALT. and cut it off after the burnout when you stage then flip it on when you drive up the return road
I have an electric waterpump drive, electric fans ready to go on just couldnt mount and wire them in time for today. I wont have a belt on the alternator either. Just the crank all by its lonesome.

Just swap the normal belt when I drive to the track to the cog belt for the wp drive. Pretty simple compared to swapping slicks at the track:D

I probably gained a tenth moving the cam. Decent but just not right yet.
Almost all our small blocks we have built {283, 327 and 350's} we ran the cams advanced 4° then moved them back to straight up and they ran quicker

This was the same day at the track using a belt drive so it was fairly easy to move the cam and degree it

You said with the cam advanced you turned higher rpm then when it was not advanced??
