Tried googling and could not find solid answers on what intake this exactly is. I know it's a dual plane and for Vortec but I'm trying to find information for its performance details.

Is this a Performer RPM equivalent? I am putting Vortec head on my 350 with 700r4 and stock cam.

i think that's the casting number... the GM part number in my 2011 GMPP catalog is 12496820.. i think this is the intake that they put on their mild mannered vortec headed crate engines- so it's good to at least 330hp...

That clears things up! Same cast number is visible in pictures.

If I use Vortec heads I'd use this intake only because it has EGR. Still have emissions here.
The intake I'm looking at has provisions for EGR but this will be going on my 71 Chevelle using 906 Vortecs so I'll be plugging it.

Wanted to find out if it was a worthy intake first. Looks like it came on 330-350hp rated motors

The nice thing about the GM pieces are that the intake gaskets are re-usable and the bolts are a specific length that the ARP ones are not. The GM bolts are designed to bottom out in the head to prevent over-tightening. The ARPs do not. With that said, I've used both kinds successfully.

I'm going to be running one of these manifolds on my current project. It's an equivalent to the Performer Vortec, and I think Edelbrock actually casts it for GM. One note about EGR: There is no "internal" passage for EGR. If you need EGR, you need to run a pipe from your exhaust to that fitting up near the front water passage on the manifold (the one pointed towards the drivers side valve cover, just in front of the GM logo). If you are not using EGR, you'll need a plug for that hole, and a block-off plate for the EGR mounting flange. That's how I'll be running mine.

Sure wish they made a spreadbore RPM intake for Vortec heads.

I've read this is comparable to the old Z28 style intake??

Do you know of a source that sells a kit of the GM bolts? I do not want to pay $3-$4 a bolt, that's the only thing holding me back from using the GM stuff.

I will be using GM 12556596 to plug the EGR off

I saw a reference on nastyz28.com that GM Part # 17113523 was a Vortec intake bolt kit.

either Fel Pro or Dorman sells the exact same bolts that GM sells... you can get them anywhere... also, the aftermarket gaskets (Fel PRo or Dorman- i forget which i used) are better than the GM gaskets... just walk into your favorite locally owned auto parts store and order them for a 97 Chevy truck with a 350..

also, unless you are getting a smoking deal on that GM intake, i'd just get a Performer and be done with it.. i got the lady at the local NAPA to price match Summit on the Performer Vortec intake when i built the 305 for my Camaro last year... i also had the Edelbrock intake in my HOT cam/vortec headed 355 in my 71 Nova and it was a beast that pulled hard from it's 750 rpm idle right on up to 7000 rpm.. was i leaving a little power on the table? perhaps- but the ability to use a quadrajet and have oem quality driveability and good fuel economy was worth leaving 10-15hp on the table to me..
