GM had a chance to bring back a real Blazer (like Ford did with the Bronco), but they chose to put it on a lame soccer mom mobile instead. Well, now Ford has chosen to use the Maverick name on some lame tiny 'pickup'.

That EV Mustang may as well be a re badge name.... Man that is one ugly piece of plastic....Just my opinion and yes Maverick were always a turd even when they tried to make them look cool....
As a young man my eyes never went to a maverick because mainly the name...No one went wow did you see the cool maverick...never...Same as Bronco cowboy names for cars....??? El Camino beat Ranchero every time....

Mavericks were always lame though.
Not if they're based on a tube chassis and set up for a BBC/Glide like my buddy's is. Its downright sinister ! Lame? not so much.

Casey I dont think the name is bad. I mean, heterosexual men drive " RAM" and "LONGHORN" trucks and they don't seem to mind, right? ;)

The original Blazer was a rugged full size truck. The current Blazer is a joke of an overgrown car.

Kinda shows how they've run out of ideas for naming vehicles - but at least it's not some STUPID NONSENSICAL LETTER/NUMBER COMBO!

I dont think recycling names has anything to do running out of names. I believe it has more to do with product association. Such as my parents had one or I remember those from when I was a kid. Even though the current vehicle is nothing like the vehicle of days gone by it is still a name that has been stored in their cranium for decades.

Got it. Even the Ranger name sounded better. And well Dodge has always had some great names for Trucks...
They could have went with the tried and true number system and called a Tree Hugger 1.5 Now that would catch on with the veggie crowd...
Okay let's face it the geeks that count the beans will think of anything to trim an once off a car to please the Auto makers and choose a name that either brings back memories and makes you look like was said before Or to get you to buy nostalgia.
They just mad a lame duck...a Dead duck...LOL!
And yes the only way you could make a maverick anything but lame was to rebuild it into a car it was never Ever going to be.
History shows it being the re Unused name tossed aside for the Mustang and the design was supposed to look way better but the settled for the grocery getter. Hemming's had a series on the Cars that never were and maverick was one of those cars.
GM is no better with Nova...No Go in espaniol .... and made up names like Camaro...It's a nice car hey won't deny it but...not a real name until the car came along.

My first ever paint job was on my dads '74 Maverick, two tone light blue upper, dark blue lower. Dad says one Saturday morning, " I bought a Wagner Power painter, lets try it out." Well, I'm sure you all know how that went, it was the classic definition of orange peel. The whole car looked like a blue orange.
