The trans is org 84 Z/28 5 speed. Thats all I know. Is it stronger than an M-21? Muncie rates the M-21 at 300 + - lb/ft of torque max but puts it behind an LS-6 chevelle? I know the car. 33000 miles, never beat. Just wondering if it will take the snot of a 496 BBC.

yep if the car won't hook but if it gets a good bite it's scrap metal.

That transmission was barely strong enough for the low HP HO motors of the day, so probably not a muscle bound 496 BBC.
