Anyone tried to put a custom (billet, flame, etc) glue-on mirror where a headliner mirror normally goes? Would it look hideous with the mirror bracket "bump" hanging empty or do you think it'd be overlooked? Just want to see if it looks okay before I put on the glue...

I have a '72 and bought the glue-on style without thinking (dumb I know). Since the original is shot it'd be another 80 bucks to replace with original-style parts that don't look very good so why not try the glue-on?!

Ariel - I'm looking at a glue on mirror myself. You can eliminate the headliner "bump". Buy a piece of rear windlace for a 70-72 el camino. It is longer than you need and does not have the cutout for the mirror. The front windlace comes with the mirror mount cutout, NOT what you want.

Thanks Rick. So that takes care of the bump and just leaves the small screw hole in the headliner. I guess I can live with that...

I put a glue on compass, temp, map light, auto dim mirror on my 72 ragtop, used the bump for the original arm for the wire harness. Worked out slick.
