Well, I replaced my electric fan tonight with a 7 blade mechanical fan with an HD thermostat. I set the pulley and tightened down the fan some, turned it a bit, and it hits my power steering pulley nut! Dang! I guess I need some sort of fan spacer, are they available? Glad I didn't start the car without checking!

Well, I had problems with the electric fan that came on the car (it was DOA). So, I installed a high cfm fan with a new 100 ADC alternator, new wiring and relay set for the fan. I ran into charging issues (cue threads on this), found that the battery was toast, got a new battery, and decided to switch back out of simplicity. So, with the new setup, it should cool nicely and mindlessly and I won't have to worry about my charging system at all.

Sounds a little backward, but some stuff the factory just got right. I'm also collecting bits to change these billet pulleys back to stock ones.

Fan spacers come in different lengths so you should be able to get the clearance that you need.

Just as important, you want to make sure that the relationship of your fan to the fan shroud is correct for proper cooling. That's really what will dictate the size spacer that you need.
