Thinking in my non prepped 3.31 geared car I should be good for low 11's with this motor...I remember a few TCers (T-Bone) running this motor and running deep into the 10's in a well prepped 68 Chevelle..

Bubba, don't think about it. Do it. It would be extremely hard to replicate that type of performance for what they sell it for. It is a well thought out and very well priced bullit.

More likely to get a big MPH, than a low ET. Without suspension work you will likely kill a lot of ET the first few hundred feet of the track.

Steve R

big MPH is good for me..can't do much if any rear suspension work in my class. No Hop bars that change the mounting point of the upper control arms are about the most you can get away with.
Plus, this is a street car that drive all over the place..I have fun with my car!

JMHO, unless the motor you have needs a thorough going over, (nothing against buying a VTP engine) I think you are just trading dollars. Pull the heads ( IIRC, you have 215's with larger valves?), send them out for a pro porting and do a cam swap to match the flow data. Same result, a lot less money.

More like similar results...
There are very few people that get results like Mark does, even if they had the exact same parts. You could sell your motor and pay for most of the new one. Maybe even look at his 496.

Chris,
Why would you want to run quick enough to require a roll bar?? Your car is WAY too nice for that crap...

Joe, your pile went 11.50s on a 540. My 402 LSx went 9.40s on a 200 shot. My neighbor has two rabbits. I think you are giving bad advice.

Dollar for dollar, it is very hard to beat one of Marks' mules with a Straub cam. As a buisness owner and a certified gear head, no body is getting rich at VTP. They are just going fast.

thanks Bill :)
I wouldn't go for a roll bar...if I can keep it at 11.5-11.6 on the Polyglas tires and run lower 11's once in awhile on slicks (without anyone really noticing) I would be pretty happy.

Joe,nothing wrong with the current motor...runs pretty strong

I think that version on Mark's 468 might be making more than 620 these days. Especially with the right piston and a SR. Either way it's a bunch of power and Mark is great to deal with. Bo.

You just don't get it. Unforetunately Andy, I never got to run at a track that allowed you to run a car to it's potential without a roll cage. Don't know what Chris faces, but would guess the few remaining tracks he might have access to will be just as strict. I kinda think 11.50 / 125 mph in a 4100# car was getting it done.
