From Pulla Wishbone, CNN Thanksgiving Unit

In the news this evening a giant turkey was arrested for grand theft auto after stealing one classic 1969 Chevelle belonging to a Mr. Dean Call, of Overland Park, Kansas.

Mr. Call had suspected fowl play upon finding a trail of stuffing and cranberry sauce leading from his empty garage and he promptly called police. He was also quoted as saying, "I'll be thanful if they catch the bird brain that stole my car!"

Inside sources have provided this picture taken by police forensics where the car was discovered, in an abandoned barn 50 miles North of the Call residence. Also discovered were several stolen crates of butter. Some speculation exists that the giant bird may have been suicidal with plans to baste himself to death, but thus far have been unsubstantiated. Motives for the auto theft are not certain at this time, but this may have been an attempt to obtain a high speed vehicle for trafficking black market drumsticks to Mexico.

The suspect was plucked by police just outside the barn after a stand-off at 3:50 for 4 hours where he was gobbled up and taken into custody. Police Captain Alda Fixxins praised his men for a job well done. Mr. Call will be reunited with his car as early as next week once the vehicle clears police evidence and feather collection departments, both lead by Constable D. Umplings.

In an odd twist to this story there are already several appeals to President Bush to provide an official pardon to this turkey. The president did make this comment and this comment on the impact of turkeys and American families, but it is not certain if that was intended as a pardon.

After a fair trial, if found guilty, I say the heck with the pardon, off with his head (not Dean's) the long neck car thief........ :D
