the other day i went to start my car and it rotated but didn't start up. pulled the plug off adn found that no spark was coming from the #1 plug wire. i replaced the ign. module in the distributor and still no spark, i have a msd coil in there that is only 5 months old, what could eb the cause of geting no spark, btw the dist. is a hei and i checked the battery wire going to the coil and it is getting 12V.

If it's not the module, a couple of other things could cause no spark. One of them is the pick-up coil to the input of the module. A few books have instructions on checking out a HEI system. One of them is the Haynes Chevelle manual. It's around $15.00 at places like Pep Boys. Gives a detailed way to check a HEI.

i replaced the cap rotor and module and tomorrow i am replacing the pick up coil that is wut i have been told is messed up.

Did you test the PU coil???. Its a simple check..I think about 1200-1500 ohms is the
spec. Not positive about the spec but the should have some resistance and not be open.
