As you can guess by the topic.. I am coming over.. ;)

I've finished my army service finally after 3 long/lost years.. I am a free man since the 9th of September.

I am coming over on the 18th of January.
I know it's a bad time.. but who cares.. :)

I'll be landing in NY, then fly to Seattle..
Then i am renting a car and driving to Vancouver, Canada.
I'll be there (my brother lives there now) for about 4 days, and i'll head back to the US...
My plan is to cross the west coast.. and end up in Vegas.
Then fly back to NY, stay there a few days and fly to Toronto, Canada.
I'll be with my family there..

The end date for that trip is 17th of April. So it's going to be a long one.. :)

My question is... Are there interesting sites to see on the way?
Any car things to see? Any attractions on the way?

I know it's winter and it's a kind of bad time.. but it's still good for me.. :)
Come on.. now, flood me with knowladge.. :D

Re: Get ready America! Here is come! :D

Have a safe trip and welcome to North America :)

www.tripcheck.com can help you with road conditions though Oregon. The Boeing Museum in Seattle is cool if you like planes. Hwy 101 though Oregon and Washington is a great drive. Be advised the PNW wettest months are Feb and March. We are expecting a warm and very wet winter in Oregon.
IMO Reno NV can be as fun as Vegas. Nothern California has the Redwoods and a nice coast too. Enjoy your trip

Dang Shai, I'm headed to Palm Springs on the 17th and then to Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale. I'll be back in Seattle on the 23rd. May miss you all together but if you are here let me know. I'm sure we can find something car related to do.

On the way to Vegas, the Lake Tahoe area and the entire Hwy 395 trip down to Southern California and across to Vegas is a very beautiful drive. Beware of the winter weather though - when the snows come in, parts of that drive can be very nasty!

If you have the time, hit Yosemite and Lake Tahoe/Reno; the Harrahs Museum is AWESOME!

Then, if you're going to be in Vegas, a 2-day side trip may well be worth your while to hit the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It's indescribeable for the visual impression and well worth the time!

EMail me or PM and I can give you routes and stops in California if you'd like.

i don't know... is there ANYTHING to do in America?
i mean, the palce is just so small, and only has 2 major cities (New York and LA). everything else is just filler...
oh, wait, everything else is where all the cool stuff is, and where you see the "real" America. why fly across the good states? save up some extra gas money and "see the USA in your Chevrolet".

Winter - stick to the coast route (take 101 along the Coast), if you go inland lots of mountain passes to cross and you have a good chance to get you chaining up skills honed. Interested in hardware/ Astoria maritime museum, air museum near Tillamook. Nature? Oregon Aquarium, Redwoods (must see!). The CA boys can tell you about the stuff in SF, LA and the Central Valley. Vegas is Vegas, need a week to scratch the surface. Summer, head inland and see the Columbia Gorge, high desert 4 corners stuff.

I can't believe it's been 3 years (I'll bet it seems longer to you, for sure!!)

I remember not seeing you around and hearing that you'd gone off to be in the military for a while. I admit, I was kind of worried. I'm really glad you're OK.

If you want to see another 4-door '72 (I can't remember if yours is a '71 or '72), swing by Anacortes (it's between Seattle and Vancouver, just about 15-20 miles off the I-5 freeway, depending on how you drive).

Hey, Redrum, if I come by and visit when it's sunny, can I drive the black beast? :D
