Hey Guys,

I've got a 56 that I've been asked to do a little
up-dating on !!

The car still has the original "generator / external voltage regualtor" on it, and the owner wants to know about converting to a (1) wire alternator.

Anybody help me out ???

Thanks
Rick

Both units charge a DC battery. The battery needs DC to charge...so in the end both units put out DC.
Mounting the alternator in is the only hard part but these conversions have been done for years. Unless you need a lot of current, why not set it up with a internally regulated SI alternator? Found a fresh rebuilt 63 amp in a 77 pick-up about 2 weeks ago for $17.00.
*Edit*
That is a 12 volt circuit, right? Can't remember off-hand and can't check it out until later.
