Get a pocket dosimeter if you are worried about exposures. It'll show any biologically significant exposure. The Geiger counter would help you ID the source if you found any. Top suspects in any household are:
1. Smoke detectors (Americonium)
2. Coleman lantern mantels (Thorium)
3. Radon gas
4. Fiestaware: the orange plates only (Uranium)
